Graded Essays are required for 9th grade applicants and strongly encouraged for applicants who do not submit testing. Graded Essays can be uploaded to the Choate Applicant Portal, which is released beginning mid-fall to applicants who have submitted the Gateway Candidate Profile.
An Admission Interview is strongly encouraged, and can be scheduled after submitting the Choate Online Inquiry Form or the Gateway Candidate Profile.
A Note on our Recommendation Requirements:
We prefer to see recommendations from your current teachers; however, these recommendations can be completed by either a current or a previous year teacher. If you are unable to submit English or math recommendations, you may submit a humanities recommendation in lieu of an English recommendation and a science recommendation in lieu of a math recommendation.
The Personal Recommendation is optional; however, if you are unable to submit test results, we strongly encourage submitting both a third Teacher Recommendation using the Gateway Personal Recommendation Form and a Graded Essay.
