9th grade applicants: Submit SSAT or ISEE scores taken on or after June 2026. 10th and 11th grade applicants: Submit SSAT, ISEE, PSAT, SAT or ACT scores taken on or after June 2025. Postgraduate applicants: Submit PSAT, SAT or ACT scores taken on or after June 2024. English Proficiency Tests: Non-native English speakers and/or students who have not been at a school where English is the primary language of instruction for at least two years are strongly encouraged to submit results from a TOEFL, Duolingo or IELTS test taken on or after June 2026. |

A Note on our Recommendation Requirements:
The Current English Teacher Recommendation and Current Mathematics Teacher Recommendation should be completed by your current year teachers.* If you are unable to submit recommendations from your current teachers, please contact our team. The Third Teacher Recommendation is optional and may be completed by a current or previous year teacher. The Personal Recommendation is optional and may be completed by an adult who knows you well and can speak to your character. *Postgraduate applicants may submit teacher recommendations from either a current or previous year teacher. |

Admission Interviews are strongly encouraged. Invitations to schedule an admission interview are sent via email to students on our mailing list. All admission interviews take place online. The online format provides a more equitable experience for our applicants and allows families who visit our campus, or who connect with us during admission events, to be fully present during those valuable experiences. Use Choate’s Application Status Portal to monitor our receipt of your application materials, upload any supplementary documents, and receive your admission decision. Beginning in the fall, applicants who have submitted Gateway Part 1 will receive notice via email that their Choate Application Status Portal is available. |
